Global Fashion Summit: Copenhagen Edition 2024
Zubeida Zwavel, Executive Director of the Centre for African Resource Efficiency and Sustainability (CARES), participated in the Ending Oversupply Panel Discussion and highlighted the damaging impact of overproduction on Africa’s landfill sites.
The session emphasised transparency in the fashion value chain, linking living wages to product volume, reducing resource use, and utilising data and worker insights to minimise material impact.

Zubeida Zwavel, co-founder of CARES, delivered a keynote address in Milan for the SAC Planet Textiles conference #sustainableapparelcoalition. “I was honoured and privileged to be part of the discussions that followed over the few days, which provided insight into the developments of sustainability and circular economy within the sector. I hope to continue the conversations and ensure that it moves towards action. The inspirational real partnerships being developed within the supply chains are one of the key areas of impact.” Groundbreaking discussions on shared responsibility and risk aimed to move the conversation towards new business strategies and models.
using technology to close the gender divide
A perfect way to end off #womensmonth by sharing the stage as a panellist with women who are not only renowned in their fields but pure trailblazers, Zandile Mkwanazi & Baratang Miya . The event was hosted by Robben Island Museum which is not only historically significant in commemorating activists but is spearheading the dialogue of women in our present society.
OECD forum paris 2023
A week in Paris participating in country partner discussions as part of the UNEP Intex project. Ending off as panel speaker at the OECD – OCDE forum talking about Circular Economy in the Garment sector.
